Munch is a partially single-player focused RPG in which you will assume the role of Chaosborn – a creature that is fighting for survival against the forces of the dark in a fantasy world funded by heavy metal. You consume the essence of these followers to evolve into one of twelve unique monsters, each with its own skills and tastes.
These metamorphosing monsters are a whirlwind of release, grimness, and dark, rarefied fantasy — think Hades meets Curse of the Dead Gods. Every run in Munch is a fresh combination of interactions, enhancements, and routes. Mutations called Chaosborn evolve from the element of defeated champions of Erdo, granting players new limbs, new attacks, and powerful upgrades to the characters of their choosing. The player selects from several deities — Gutpuncher, The Anvil, Morbideath — all with a heavy-metal bent, each representing a different genre of music.
These deities influence how tall or strong the monster will become, meaning the player has a lot to play around the game itself. There is simply plenty of action, destruction, and stealth in the open world. Players will be tasked with spreading chaos through the story of the Metal Gods and learning to harness the power of their chosen path. With player progression unlocking more content, arcade-style gameplay encourages replay value with different mutations, environments and strategies to battle Erdo’s forces for each game.
